Hi Joe, I am not sure but you may want to check - I believe that (just like St. Peter), St Thomas (aka doubting Thomas in the bible) was crucified upside down on St Thomas Mount near Chennai. It is an ancient biblical practice (new testament) that I would really like to see practiced in highly Christian Goa today when dealing with condemned criminals like murderers, in combination with organ harvesting (so others may live when criminals die). Are there any description of the logistics of the upside-down crucifixtion method at St. Thomas Mount ?? Please advise.
I think that will be the best deterrent to end violent crime in Goa. Goa will be come the Mecca for foreign tourists (not violent criminals, as it is now) in Goa and we will finally attain our ideal of Golden Goa (Goa Dourada) ! Located a litte off Guindy and close to the flying range in Chennai, St. Thomas Mount is associated with St. Thomas, the apostle of Christ, who is believed to have been martyred here. The mount is known locally as "Peria Malai" (Big Mount?in Tamil language) or "Firangi Malai". A small relic-filled Church built in 1523 by the Portuguese stands at the summit of the 300 foot high St. Thomas Mount. The place was visited by Pope John Paul II during his visit to India on 5th February 1986. In 1972, to commemorate the nineteenth centenary of the martyrdom, the Government of India Department of Post and Telegraphs released a postage stamp depicting the picture of the bleeding cross of St. Thomas Mount. Earlier, in 1964, a stamp was released depicting the Ortona silver bust of St. Thomas by the Post and Telegraph department of India. The Indian Army operates an Officers training Academy (OTA) on the mount. The South line of the Chennai suburban railway has a station named after St. Thomas Mount, here [EMAIL PROTECTED] for Goa & NRI related info... http://in.groups.yahoo.com/group/GOAN-NRI/ Konkani Songs, Goan Photos, Tiatr/Film VCDs, Bank interest rates etc etc (for updates etc click below) http://in.groups.yahoo.com/group/GOAN-NRI/files/ _______________________________________________ Goanet mailing list [email protected] http://lists.goanet.org/listinfo.cgi/goanet-goanet.org
