Tehelka is a fairly thought-provoking paper (like the Outlook magazine), and together with the 'Indian Express' and the 'Hindu', these are some of my favourite papers/magazines. Just this morning, while on the inter-state bus, I was reading this story:

Does the name sound familiar? Does it remind you of, say, Goanet? It took me a second or two to realise what they were talking about... Then it sunk it. Herman Carneiro's Goanet influenced a generation of us, on to what can be possible through a humble mailing list. In Goa, we have quite a few lists. But there is still space for many more (specialist) lists. In the course of my email, I suggested the idea to a friend Shubhranshu Choudhary of the Chhattisgarh region. They set up Chhattisgarh net [ -- http://groups.yahoo.com/group/chhattisgarh-net/] With 813 members, it has grown, and is today playing a role in that distant region! They've even had a couple of meetings there... So, if you get a chance to encourage someone to do something -- even if only to replicate a positive idea in another context -- please do so. You never know where things end up. One day you might just feel happy for taking an idea forward. In however modest a role!
