Goa needs a desperate change Croydon Medeira Dubai UAE On one hand we have our very own South Goa MP, Mr. Churchill Alemao fighting tooth & nail for the betterment of the people of Goa and opposing all destructive measures/projects initiated by the Congress Govt. in Goa, & on the other we have Mr Babush Monserate who is hell bent on destroying the little greenery left in our Sobit Goa & who is instrumental in developing Goa and making it a concrete jungle with no consideration to the locals basic ammenities & improvement to infrastructure. It is surprising to note but not astonishing that when any Goan wants to cut a single tree he has to go through so much hell by visiting several Govt. authorities/offices and attaining several permissions even though the concerned tree might be posing a threat to his/her family and property. As long as you have a red beacon on your car & you are an elected representative (either by the right means or the wrong ones) you are allowed to do whatever you wish.Goa is being ruined by politicians right from the Cheap Minister, Oooops! sorry Chief Minister to the ordinary MLA.The regional plan that Mr. Monserate has come up with is nothing more than telling us Goans this is not your land anymore and I/We (I mean the Govt.) can do whatever we wish because we have the power to call the shots and make decisions for you stupid Goans. That is the message that we Goans are being given indirectly through these worthless ministers. Can you imagine the irony in what I am about to state that Amitabh Bachchan popularly known as the BIG B world wide who was recently honoured in France is not given an invitation to attend the IFFI in Goa for 2 consecutive years just because he has affiliations to a different political party and the party in power presently being a different one? A person who is an icon of Indian Cinema(Bollywood) and who draws and pulls crowds like no other actor/actress is being cold shouldered in our very nation who is holding a so called International Film Festival but on the other hand is being feted at countries all around the world and is being invited as a special guest to various related events or programmes.Mr. Bachchan definately stands tall in principle and moral besides his height ofcourse. He can draw much more crowds unannounced without any propoganda than the Parrikars,Rane's,Falleiro's,Monserate's & Pacheco's.It is a shame on the path of the Goa Govt. that inspite of organizing this festival in India they do not invite someone of the stature of Big B just because of petty minded politics.Goans should see these instances in a broader spectrum and make note of all this so when these Ali Baba's come next time round knocking at your doorstep they should be asked to explain the reasons for all of these. Inconvieniencing Goans has become the order of the day with past & present Governments.Goa needs a desperate change with people honest & sincere who will work for the upliftment of people needing it the most & for the betterment of Goan society in general.I am sure we can find Goans to fill up various posts in various Govt. offices instead of getting outsiders to fill them.We definately should not elect any Non Goans standing for elections and forced upon us by these worthiless parties. It is better to elect Independent candidates and let them form the government as they can be tackled independently as well when they do anything wrong and not in the interest of us Goans.Goans should take the hint from the recent resignation of Panchayat memebers who were forced to resign bby the people.THERE IS NO BIGGER & STRONGER POWER THAN PEOPLE POWER and Goans should capitalize on this and be united to defeat these politicians striving hard to fill their pockets and destroy Goa. -- DEV BOREM KORUM.
