All flippancy aside though, I think this touches on the larger issue of Goan women still not being encouraged to fully participate in the political and social dialogue affecting their lives. While boys are left in the company of men to talk about the issues of the day, girls are encouraged to "help" in the kitchen and serve appetizers (also called pattices in Goa). We must raise a generation of pattice-free girls in Goa.
