< where does MOPA airport plans currently stand? It was a hot topic for awhile and seems tohave dropped from the headlines. Regards,George>
Yes, airline news itself is in the doldrums (to mix metaphors). The high level committeee under the PM was supposed to decide by October. But it has discovered that the techno economic study done for Mopa did not make any projections for Dabolim. So more time is being provided to do that. Seems strange since the basic premise for Mopa was that Dabolim would close! This was the Cabinet resolution of March 2000. When Mopa became an issue last year remember how we were told both would function. In the mean time, progress is supposedly being made to start a second airport at Navi Mumbai. Cheers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Goanet supports BMX, the alumni network of Britto's, St Mary's and Xavier's -- three prominent institutions in Mapusa, Goa.
