About these Konkani Oldies (Films)
I get many mails asking me how I manage to get all these oldies clips etc and
whether the
films are available for sale etc.
Well, to the best of the knowledge, only films that are legally available for
sale are AMCHEM
NOXIB & NIRMONN (recently released) and BOGLANTT may be released early next
year followed by
BUERANTLO MUNIS.
As for me, I have all the 3 films recorded directly from DD on VHS .
Some of you may remember that these oldies viz NIRMONN, AMCHEM NOXIB, BOGLANTT
etc were shown
more than once on local TV doordarshan telecast from Mumbai for whole of
Maharastra and Goa in
80s (and may be even 90s).
My recorded movies also captured 'KUSNE DHOVAL' Marathi words I think, which
means 'BLACK &
WHITE' message to the viewers to say it is not coloured. My recorded video also
captured
'This part of programme sponsored by Colgate Palmolive' etc
These films (illegal copies) may still be available at Margao etc as I myself
bought the above
first 3 about 3 years ago by paying Rs.300 each. (some of them had 'RAJA VIDEO
Tel....'
super-inscribed or logo on the screen through-out.
Why I bought VCDs when I have VHS ?
Well, when we moved our residence to a new place, we had no VHS video or VCR
nor we intended
to buy a new one as VCD/DVD players taken over.
I must say the quality which shown on local TV (and other illegal copies) is
far better than
the recent released DVDs.
And it was uncut too.
Most oldies including Sukachem Sopon were then available at Caro (tronics) near
Gomantak vidya
niketan for rent ( public screening with projector). I thinks, Dept. of
information &
publicity also used to screen it for public viewing.
Despite, of all these, I guess, it does not give me automatic rights to put up
some clips on
the net. It is needless to mention here that it was purely done for the love of
Konkani & Goa.
However, if I do get an email asking me to remove, I will remove it instantly
and you will
also be notified.
