Dear Joe,

I too admire what Mr. S. Naik is doing for Goa etc, in Parliament. However in
this case of 'subsiding pilgrimages' for Christians, a cause that you seem to
espouse, just as has been done for Muslims/Hindus is wrong in principle and
against the Secular State that India Is.

No community should be subsidised for religious activity by the Govt. at State
or Central level. There has to be complete seperation of State and Religious
practices. The sooner this is accomplished; the better it is for the Nation. We
should fight for, "No subsidy or any promotional effort" on the part of the
State for religious activity. But the State is bound to ensure Freedom of
Religious Practice, including enabling Conversion by individuals from religion
to religion or from no religion to religion of choice and vice versa! The
States that have such 'banning' laws should disband such laws, and usher in
true Religious Freedom for all in the Private Domain. Personally, I do feel
that all 'public' practice of religion, including 'processions' and 'melas' etc
should be banned; because these have become far too annoying and detrimental to
public order, as well as a cause of communal tension and strife.

IT IS NOT THE ESSENCE OF RELIGION ANYWAY!

If we do not commit ourselves to seperation of State from Religion, then we are
handing ourselves into camouflaged wolves like M. Parrikar, his ilk, and his
followers, to be ridiculed and hindered and finally 'eaten alive'. These BJP
extremists as they are, always will try to allure you into their 'net' by doing
some 'Good' and then snare you! So beware! do not praise these people , lest
they get all the votes and the Seats in the Legislature, for then surely we
will be sounding our own deathnell!

Cheers to all the other goodwork that you are doing! I do enjoy taking a peek
at your 'photos' on Flickr. See Ya!

With Govt. Subsidy, pilgrimage tours to Bethlehem/Israel could be lot cheaper
from next year

You may be aware that Govt provides subsidy to indian Muslims for their annual
Haj/Mecca
pilgrimage every year.

Rajya Sabha MP, Shantaram Naik from Goa, the only non-Christian MP, who was a
part of the
delegation, told PM that he had joined the delegation to support the cause as
his state, Goa
has a population of 30% percent Christians, whose feelings too, he proposes to
represent.
.
The PM assured the delegation to look into the matter. (GT)
