Hippie Masala: Forever in India Synopsis
From the mid-1960s onwards, thousands of hippies from the West moved
to India in search of an alternative lifestyle, spiritual enlightenment and drug experimentation. Most returned after few months or years, but some stayed forever: The Italian Cesare, for example, a cave-dwelling Yogi, still striving for spiritual liberation; Hanspeter from Switzerland, who runs a small farm in the Himalayas, but judging by the hash pipe permanently wedged between his teeth, he is no traditionalist. Then there are the South African twins who sew hippie clothes for both the old and new generation of Goa freaks. "Hippie Masala" portrays the flower children who fled from Western culture, and have come of age and found a new home in India.
