Talking Photos: X'mas Cribs with beautiful Palaces etc This is my first Christmas in Goa after 12 years.
Today we left for visiting South Goa Cribs. I was really impressed to see some of the beautiful cribs with palaces etc. Cribs not only attract locals but foreign tourists too usually after 7pm (with lighting/scenes) Other attractions of the cribs are hills, fields, wells, springs, fountains, Falls, tunnels, pond with big-big fresh water fish like 'big tigur' etc. There was one crib at Raia (Zumvear) which is only open for public from 6.30pm to 11.30pm. We had to come back but we captured a Santa Claus (see pic) in the opp.field/water. At Nuvem (on Raia Rd), the whole crib was done in a tunnel. Visitors had to go thru the tunnel from one end and come out thru the other end. These cribs are usually presented by the villages or wards boys collectively with team spirit every year. So, people/taxi drivers etc know where to go to visit cribs. (often sponsored by business people or politicians). To complete the whole crib set up in time for Christmas day, one has to start the process at least 2 months in advance. It is a huge set-up, covering up to 300sq.mtrs land area. Their work is really commendable. What really surprised me is to see huge crowed (including foreigners) after 7pm virtually leaving no space for parking. Well done boys/people, keep the tradition alive. http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=342723276&size=l http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=342723275&size=l http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=342723270&size=l [EMAIL PROTECTED] for Goa & NRI related info... http://in.groups.yahoo.com/group/GOAN-NRI/ Konkani Songs, Goan Photos, Tiatr/Film VCDs, Bank interest rates etc etc (for updates etc click below) http://in.groups.yahoo.com/group/GOAN-NRI/files/ Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com
