Lot of debate on the above topic. I had been hearing about Potta for ages.
Never believed in it. Thought it to be mass hypnotism. I hardly used to go
to church and when we lived in a little village outside main Ahmedabad
city, closer to campus where my late husband was a professor, never went for
four years for Mass. Church was about 20 kms away.
My life came to a standstill after Nirmal died and within two years my
mother also died. It took me a long time to recover. Till someone suggested
I go to Potta. I said on 'one condition'. Must go my aircondition
compartment to the Divine Retreat Centre railway station, and a private
room. Got both of them. Of course shared a room with another acquaintance
who travelled with me.
It was really an eye opener. I went end of January 2002. It was a
wonderful experience. Sometimes I never attended the sessions, but just
took a walk or slept. I don't know whether miracles happen, but it changed
my outlook towards the Catholic religion. I recommend to every Catholic to
visit it only once.
At that time there must have been at least six thousand people. very well
organised, and in different languages.
