I thought everyone knew by now, but at the risk of
repeating myself, I have lived in the US for 36 years
but grew up in central India, and come from a family
of Indian nationalists. Our family was threatened
with arrest by the Portuguese colonists in the 50s for
speaking out against their presence in Goa and their
amusingly bogus claims of an Estado da India, and we
were unable to go there until the Portuguese were
firmly made to take their tired old sophistries and go
home in 1961.
