What Miguel states below does not seem to be in
agreement with the census data. According to the
census, the Hindu population was 61% in 1961. The
Catholic and Muslim populations were 37% and 0.5%,
respectively. The 2001 numbers are 67%, 27% and 6% for
Hindus, Catholics and Muslims, respectively.

What Miguel said in the rest of his post is
commendable and eminently accurate. But to debunk the
communal sentiments and bigotry that have found a
foothold on Goanet, it is also important to point out
that there have been almost an equal number of Hindu
and Catholic Chief Ministers since the invasion,
self-occupation, and institution of chaotic freedom
and democracy in Goa in 1961. And as far as I know,
there has been one Muslim minister, Sheik Hassan
Haroon.

Cheers,

Santosh
