Talking Photos: APICON 2007 (plus Video 'Papa Kehete Hai...Udit Narayan Live)
The preparation for the above 4 day mega event EPICON (Convention of the
Association of the
Physicians of India) was going on for the last one month (see pics). There were
3 big
air-condition units/halls erected on the Campal grounds and KA area.
The biggest being opp. Gymkhana measuring about 90mtrs long.
It had special wooden floors, about 100 large external LG air
cooler/conditioners installed
to blow cool air inside all the auditorium (see pic). the biggest unit had
capacity for at
least 4000 delegates.
Entire open space from Panjim Gymkhana to KA was taken over and covered with
black cloth from
the main road pavements (see Pic).
The entire cost is expected to run at least Rs. 4-5 crores.
On the first day, i.e. 15th Feb. it was a complete mess on the road as there
were no enough
parking space ( about 8500 delegates were expected mainly from Karnataka and
Maharastra), many
travelled in their own cars. The 4 lane D.B.Road was virtually reduced to just
two lanes as
cars seen parked on both side of the road. It could be even worst on Panjim
Carnival day
i.e.17th Feb. All Hotels were fully booked including the smaller ones.

Late evening there was show by the popular Bollywood playback singer Udit
Narayan where he
sang his first hit song PAPA KEHTE HAIM BADA NAM KAREGA..from 1988 film Qayamat
