I remember the following placard in the lobby of the main entrance to
the Taj Mahal Hotel eons ago:
NO DOGS AND SOUTH AFRICANS ALLOWED.
That was during the glory days of South Afraica's apartheid policy
towards their black population and of course a political statement of
the hotel, not a discriminatory one.

I remember also my dad remarking to Miguel Mascarenhas - the legendary
master  chef of the time and a neighboring Anjuncar - about that
placard and Masci jokingly mentioned that he had tried and failed to
get the Portuguese included.
