Goa Governor B.V Wanchoo has been urged to immediately sack Advocate General Atmaram Nadkarni for holding a public sponsored party on November 23 rd night at the five starred Taj Fort Aguada to celebrate his 50th birthday.
By this gross misconduct Atmaram Nadkarni has brought utter disgrace to the very high constitutional post of Advocate General and has forfeited all moral authority to continue on the post. As the Advocate General can only be someone who qualifies to be a High Court Judge, his conduct at all times has to be that what is expected of a High Court Judge. Sponsored birthdays of politicians may be a routine affair, but the Advocate General should never have stooped so low. The birthday party which had around 400 guests with imported Scotch whisky flowing through the night is estimated to have cost around Rs 20 lakhs with the controversial Calangute de-facto Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira whose illegal hotel at Calangute is currently under the scanner of the Bombay High Court at Goa being the fundraiser for that bash. The Taj Hotel had issued a bill of Rs 14 lakhs for food and alcohol in the name of Joseph Sequeira. This bill of Rs 14 lakhs has now been re-issued by the hotel in the name of a Calangute resident Jude Fernandes who works in Housekeeping section at the Sukhmantra hotel in Candolim. Advocate General Atmaram Nadkarni’s birthday party was attended by some notorious elements including prime accused in the illegal mining scam. In a clear conflict of interest those having petitions pending in the High Court against the government also attended the party. The party which continued into the early hours of 24th morning was in rank violation of the Excise rules and the Madhya Pradesh Sound Act and Noise Pollution Rules. Governor Wanchoo has reportedly now called for a report on this public sponsored birthday bash, while the Income Tax officials will quiz Joseph Sequeira and Jude Ferandes to unravel the source of those 14 lakhs. Like Tarun Tejpal we may soon see Atmaram Nadkarni also in the dock. Aires Rodrigues T1 - B30, Ribandar Retreat Ribandar - Goa - 403006 Mobile: 9822684372
