The Joseph Naik Vaz Institute based in Berkeley, California (www.josephnaikvaz.org) invites you to join our “Blessed Vaz International Day of Service” in memory of Blessed Joseph Vaz whose feast day is January 16, 2014. See more information at www.josephnaikvaz.org
According to latest reports from the Archbishop of Goa and the Church in Sri Lanka, the Cause of Blessed Joseph Vaz has reached a promising stage. If canonized, Blessed Joseph Vaz would become the first official Goan Saint in the Catholic calendar of saints. We urge the worldwide Goan, Sri Lankan, and Mangalorean communities to join in a day of service for the successful completion of the canonization of Blessed Joseph Vaz. You can pick any day which is convenient to you. Because of Blessed Joseph Vaz' service to the abandoned Catholics of Mangalore and Sri Lanka and his service to the poor and the sick, we invite all Goans, Mangaloreans, and Sri Lankans to choose a day of service for his January 16 Feast. Service could include any of the following: feeding the hungry, helping the homeless, planting a tree and helping to save the environment, visiting a convalescent home, an orphanage, volunteering in schools, hospitals and senior citizen centers, etc. You decide on the service you want to do and have your family/friends join in. Tell us you are in this campaign and you did something to further his cause for sainthood. Do not sit on the sidelines, Blessed Vaz is a people's saint and everyone can play an important role. Do email the Institute at [email protected] and let us know about your participation in this Blessed Vaz International Day of Service campaign. Please forward this message to you contacts, email groups including social media. Also, please have your organization/association organize something. Thank you.
