Resignation of Tomazinho Cardoso.
It is now proved beyond our doubts that Nagrivadis and Marathivadis are
surely waging a war against Romivadis. Hence, it is our turn now to face
them boldly. We have many Romivadis who are fighting for the cause of Romi
script Konkani. Either our voice and fight is not that powerful to demolish
our enemies or our fighters are not sufficient enough to show our capacity.
Some years back Nagrivadis in Goa formed an organization called Konknni
Lekokh Songh. During one of their regular meetings at T. B. Cunha Hall,
Panjim, I was vacationing in Goa. Taking advantage of my short period in
Goa, Gurunath Kelekar invited me for that meeting and introduced me to all
the racists Nazi type Nagrivadis as this Antonio Veronica from Kuwait, is a
great lover, a great supporter, a great promoter of Konkani in Kuwait. He is
the initiator of Novem Goem Pratisthan Kuwait Somiti, a great Konkani writer
etc. Mr. Kelekar described me with all the "greats" only. Shivdas was
chairing the meeting. Purshottoma Kakodkar as an MP was also present for
this meet amongst others. After finishing the introduction of me by
Kelekar, suddenly Shivdas in a Hitlerian tone with full of malice and
communal connotation giving an impression that he was the most powerful and
most learned man on Konkani like omnipotent asked Gurunath Kelekar Does he
i.e. me, know to read and write Nagri Konkani?. Internally disagreeing
with this question of Shivdas, Gurunath Kelekar fumbled a bit knowing my
nature to counter question Shivdas with all my ferocity, said, No. Then
immediately I asked the permission from the Chair to speak and asked
Gurunath Kelekar very forcefully Can you Gurunath Kelekar tell me why did
Shivdas ask that question? Is it necessary to know Nagri Konkani only to
involve in Konkani movement? Then Gurunath sensed my mood and tried to
pacify me. I was wild, seeing me abuz everybody took my side and said
toxem nhoi re tem. Then I asked koxem re tor tem? They remained
silent. Then I asked when we send lakhs of rupees for the cause of Konkani
including for the cause of Novem Goem Paper in Nagri script that time why
dont you ask such questions? Is Konkani the monopoly of nagrivadis only?
Do Nagrivadis think that they are more learned and Romivadis less?
The same evening after this meet I was coming home with Tomazinho Cardoso
from Betim on his scooter. On the way I discussed this topic with Tomazinho
and asked him why this superiority complex in Nagrivadis and cant you
challenge them? For this Tomazinho said Te moje laguim aikopache nant.
Then I replied thus If a Konknnivadi of your calibre is unable to challenge
their fake might then who in our Romi circle will do?
Tomazinho Cardoso is a great lover, supporter and promoter of Konkani and
his love for Romi Konkani is infinite. But is he a fighter for this cause in
a real sense? He is not very aggressive from the beginning. Sometimes it
looks to me that he is one eyed man amongst the blind. In Romi circle we
dont have powerful fighters and aggressive campaigners to shake the
Nagrivadis. Tomazinho Cardoso as a Congressman was one of the powerful
Congressman in the last Legislative Assembly holding the rank of Speaker.
Having this position he wielded lot of influence and power. But did he
utilize anytime this influence to influence Congress stalwarts in Goa and if
necessary in Delhi to render justice to Romi Konkani by bringing it on par
with Nagri script Konkani? If yes, then will it be possible to cite
evidence? Did he anytime during his Speakership speak openly and loudly
against the injstice meted out to Romi Konkani and sought redressal?
Tomazinho Cardoso is one of the executive body members of Goa Konkani
Academy dominated and controlled by Saraswat Bamon Nagrivadis. Even though
in this committee there are others who do not belong to Saraswat group but
yet they support the Saraswats because by doing this they also get residual
parts of the benefits the Saraswats enjoy. Tomazinho Cardoso after being
out of Goan politics looked like a fish out of water and hence he is making
a big noise of his battle for Romi Konkani. If he is really sincere in his
efforts and dedicated to the cause of Romi script Konkani then he must rebel
against the arrogance of Nagrivadis and as a mark of protest over the
continuous injustice meted out to Romi Script Konkani by a few Saraswat
Bamon Nagrivadis in Goa Konkani Academy, Tomazinho Cardoso must submit his
resignation from GKA and withdraw from the circle of anti-Romi Nagrivadis.
By doing this let Tomazinho Cardoso show his solidarity with aggrieved
Romivadis. Otherwise, Romivadis should throw out Tomazinho Cardoso from
their circle. Because in the past when he was in Gongress as a powerful man
he did nothing and when he is powerless in Congress now, what good he will
do? If he thinks by his being in GKA he will do justice to Romi Konkani
then he is sadly mistaken. "Nagrivadis osleam Tomazinhak marta konkear".
They will toy with Tomazinho Cardoso.
Ealier in the past, as a mark of his solidarity with Romivadis and as a mark
of protest against Nagrivadis, Fr. Prataph Naik inspite of being a non-Goan
resigned from Goa Konkani Academy. Can Tomazinho Cardoso show his guts now
like Fr. Prataph Naik? "
As reported in the press on 4th of this month Goa Konkani Academy will
celebrate its 21st anniversary. I feel all Romivadis and supporters of Romi
Konkani should boycott this celebration as a mark of protest over the
arrogance of Nagrivadis against Romivadis. We in Kuwait will observe this
day as a day of Traitors who betrayed Romi Konkani with a Judas Kiss.
