*Meet Young Marcelino at TAG’s Meet the Artiste program* *‘Young Marcelino’ *as he is popularly known on the tiatr stage. Joao Manuel Marcelino Fernandes was born on 6th April, 1943 at Mumbai. His parents Joaquim Sebastiao Fernandes and Eugenia Joaquina Sebastiana Fernandes originally hailed from Carona, Aldona, Bardez Goa. He has been invited by the Tiatr Academy of Goa to feature at its monthly program ‘Meet the Artiste’ on 23rd January at 4:00 p.m at TAG’s Conference Hall, Campal Trade Centre, Campal Panaji-Goa.
He first stepped on the tiatr stage in the tiatr *‘Carmichem Bentin’ *by Diniz Sequeira which was staged in the year 1957 at Aldona. Thereafter Young Marcelino has also performed in the other tiatrs of Diniz Sequeira like *‘Dogui Mhoje Put’, ’Maim Putachem Kazar’ and ‘Zalach Pahije’*. While acting in these tiatrs he got an opportunity to act along with some of the finest tiatr artistes of those times like Jephsis Hitler, Young Menezes, Champion Peter, Domnic Vaz, etc. Airistedes Dias a well known and popular director observed Young Marcelino in *‘Dogui Mhoje Put’* and was taken up with his acting and singing abilities. He offered Young Marcelino a role in his tiatr *‘Sot Bhavartachem’* which Marcelino performed to the expectations of Airistedes Dias. This was his first stint on the professional or the commercial tiatr stage. Some of the popular tiatrs in which Young Marcelino has performed are *‘Sot Bhavartachem’,’Doia’* and *‘Divorce’* by Airistedes Dias, *‘Kanteantlem Ful’* and *‘Dolorosa’* by Nelson Alphonso, *’Bhognnar’* by M. Dod de Verna, *‘Orkache Panch Mister’, ‘Sat Dukhi’* and *‘Goencho Saib’* by J. P. Souzalin, *‘Seza Pai’* by Star of Curtorim besides tiatrs of C. Alvares, M. Boyer etc. He has also written and directed one tiatr of his own entitled ‘*Resperadis*’. He has also composed songs on several occasion. He is a recipient of Directorate of Art and Culture’s *‘Kala Gaurav’*Award. Tiatr Academy of Goa’s ‘*Lifetime Contribution to Tiatr Stage Award 2013’* All tiatr lovers are invited for this program.
