BICHOLIM: The Marathi Rajbhasha Andolan (MRA) gave a stern warning to the government that they will be forced to field their own candidate for the Lok Sabha elections if their demands are not met. MRA demanded that Marathi be made the official language of the State and told the government to come clear on the issue. A one-day agitation was organised at the old bus stand Bicholim on Sunday. Former Bicholim MLA Rajesh Patnekar, Adv Ajitsingh Rane and several other Marathi supporters were present. “The government is not coming clear on this issue and all the parties are just giving assurances to us,” Rajan Kadkade of MRA told the media. “The government should not underestimate our power and should give a decision in our favour before the coming elections else we will have to follow a different method of getting our demands through,” warned Kadkade. “Political parties should stop fooling the voters, as now they are well educated and know how the politicians are trying to take advantage by giving assurances,” said Kadkade. MRA also decided to unite and further strengthen its agitation.
