I attended a live speech given by Krishna Menon in early 1959 at Bombay
University.  It was a fiery speech.  Whatever his convictions, he was a great
orator, in my mind at least.  His leanings were definitely leftist,
anti-colonial and anti-American. The Indian economic situation was  quite bleak
in those days and the country was dependent of foreign aid.  I remember Krishna
Menon deriding the USA and  Britain, comparing them with money lenders who
charge usurious interest rates for the money that they lent India at that time.
Krishna Menon was indeed the architect of India's take over of Goa, whether
Nehru was aware of  the plan is debateable.
