Raising serious questions on the Governor of Goa sanctioned project work for the construction of retaining wall at the Pajifond Kabrastan in Margao, Goa Su-Raj Party demands an inquiry by both the Governor\'s Office in Goa and Government of Goa into the discrepancies in the tender floated and actual cost of the execution of the work. In the RTI document in GSRP\'s possession it reveals that on 17th June 2011, by Order and in the name of the Governor of Goa, Prinicipal Chief Engineer, PWD and Ex-Officio Addl. Secretary to Government of Goa, had issued an Order of Administrative Approval and Expenditure Sanction for \'Providing protection to the crematorium road including drainage\' for amount totaling Rs 2,08,79,465. Subsequent to that, a letter was issued to RG Constructions. RG Constructions submitted a bill for recovery of money approved by the Divisional Accountant, PWD Works, Fatorda Margao and Executive Engineer, PWD, Fatorda Margao for only Rs 1,20,68,631. thereby raising a question as to why the job was tendered to RG Constructions for a higher price and post the submission of a lower-price of recovery. Did the government save Rs 88 lacs or was the money siphoned. Goa Su-Raj Party (GSRP), Secretary/Spokesperson & President (Youth Affairs), Savio Rodrigues said: Our sources in the Muslim community closely associated with the Kabrastan welfare and care-taking have informed us that PWD officials were forcing a Muslim leader associated with the project to state in writing that work completed was for Rs 2.08 crore even though it was clearly much less. Such acts clearly indicate that there must be some questionable acts done to probably siphon off the money. More importantly, the care-takers of the Kabrastan have also told us that at the most the work done would not cross Rs 50 lacs. Therefore we demand an inquiry. GSRP also demanded from the Government of Goa to take the petitioner for the Kabrastan, Abdul Matin Carol into confidence over the new approved site as he has raised certain vital issues of complexities in performing the last burial rites for the departed Muslims. Also it is important for the government to present a new plan of the Kabrastan on the total acquired land of 30,000 sqmts instead of only 14,000 sqmts. Secondly, the family from whom the land of 16000 sqmts had been acquired, should be adequately compensated by an alternate land, immediately, as their land was illegally acquired without proper approvals from the family.
