Awards should be given to someone for extraordinary events or action. Take
Mother Theresa. There are thousands of nuns all over India. some of them are
teachers, and some of them work in orphanages, and some work in home for the
aged. That job is given to them by their superiors. What is the difference
between these nuns and Mother Theresa ? lots. Mother Theresa worked with lepers
where normal person refuses to touch them. She and her nuns were looking after
unwed mothers and their children. This was also extraordinary. She brought
solace to many people and did not distinguish between hindus, muslims and
christians. Today awards are given to many on influencial basis. A teacher like
many other teachers teaches in a school . That is her duty. From those many
teachers one is selected to get state award. Her life as school or college
teacher is never mentioned. What is extraordinary is not mentioned as to why
this teacher must get a award. A musician like any ordinary musician is
suddenly selected for a prize. what is extra ordinary should be published as
people around must know what this person has done to gain this award and the
list goes on. Can some one tell me why people just get state and National
aWARDS ? Many times it is because of pull from politicians and ministers.
