The Model code of conduct currently in force in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections strictly bans the use of Mosques, Churches, Temples or other places of worship as a forum for election propaganda. The law mandates that this Code be strictly abided by all political parties, their candidates and supporters.
In rank violation of this Code, North Goa BJP candidate Shripad Naik along with his entourage went to the Panaji Church on Friday 21st March to launch his election campaign. He is seen being gifted a copy of the Holy Bible by Panaji Parish Priest Fr. Cleto Pereira. A complaint against this violation of the Code is being filed with the Election Commission against Shripad Naik. The authorities need to act against him and his entire entourage for breaching the law. Along with Shripad Naik amongst others was Cedric Vaz, partner of Panaji based Edcon Builders, in whose projects perhaps Manohar Parrikar has been aiding regularize all irregularities. Also present was RSS stalwart Advocate Subhash Sawant who should have known that the law was being violated in using a religious place as a pad for election campaign. It would be interesting to know what Shripad Naik who is a hardcore RSS Pracharak has done with that copy of the Holy Bible. God Save Goa from these proponents of communal venom.
