Dear Floriano, I am just writing after the response from your letter on Goanet> The news open up by you , is really sad to hear. One way I am convinced what you say, but it is really too late and nothing can be done as his body is finished. What about his wife Alina, she does not have her say in this? Why she is MUM? I do not know anything internal stories of their family as I have no connections. Earlier when he was young and teacher at Don Bosco I used to be with him almost every alternate day and going for a simple tea in one restaurant , as we had no much money. That was after 1970's. It was at the side of Shalimar Hotel, Panjim that is between Sousa Paul and Shalimar Hotel , there was a restaurant which we used to frequent often and talk about politics. I was completely zero in politics. I had many times taken him to our NIO where I was working and he participated in seminars etc. He had one more of his friend and my colleague called Agnelo Fernandes, a clerk from NIO who was very friendly with him. So the discussion was mostly on Ramponkars, and later DuPond etc. After that I lost touch of him, once he became a political giant. I have no contact with his wife (Alina) at all as he never showed or introduced me to her. Only I remember one thing that when he called me up and said that he is going to join BJP. I was in Pune at that time, but I advised him why are you joining BJP? and he said that Congress are rogues and after joining BJP he said that he will put the house of Goans in order. Before that I met Matanhy at the funeral of Dr. Wilfred Mesquita's father at their residence at Chicalim. After that I had no contacts of him. I left that job to him entering into BJP and also I left him completely. I come to know from you now, that there was some fishy thing, of his untimely death. If that is true , I must tell you that this needs to be investigated or are you putting his family with more embarrassing questions? This is becoming a serious problem. Is it just because of MOPA that his death's reason is surfacing? This should have been done much earlier that is just after his death or on the day of death. And conducted the post mortem as you say. Who will listen to your stories now? Although it may be true but you may fall into problem, if it is goes wrong. Please make sure what you talking, Sir. Ask Dr.Oscar who was there at the time of death I believe. It seems Matanhy was admitted in that Hospital before his death. I have no idea what was going on those days.

Dumo, President and Savio Rodrigues, Secretary & President [Youth Affairs], the Candidate for LS Elections from South Goa, the Goa Su-Raj Party's General Secretary and founding President Floriano Lobo has gone on record to say that the BJP could revive the previously shelved MOPA airport project only by eliminating Matanhy Saldanha from the scene as a Minister in the Manohar Parrikar cabinet who was acutely against MOPA. Explaining that he was a long-time colleague activist of Matanhy Saldanha on issues like MOPA, SEZ, CRZ, Special Status, etc, Floriano Lobo recounted many a public platforms he shared with Matanhy Saldanha against MOPA airport and stressed that Matanhy was against both, the illegal occupation of the Goa's Civilian airport, Dabolim by the Indian Navy, and the new greenfield MOPA airport project. He said that Matanhy was a proud GOAN, rooted for GOA, who only succumbed to the pressures of joining the BJP because he hated the CONGRESS through his entire being, thus depriving himself the tag of being one of the regional icons of Goa in the fag end of his political carrier. Floriano Lobo further said that Matanhy's resolve as Environment and Forest Minister in the BJP cabinet not to allow any mining activity in forest/wild-life sanctuaries as told by him to the HINDU, barely 3 days before he died, and his resolve that the Navy should move to Sea Bird, Karwar, and MOPA be scrapped was the last straw that broke his back and earned him his death sentence. "In the scheme of things, Floriano said, " crores of rupees of funding from the mining and Mopa lobies that made the BJP victorious in the 2012 Assembly elections, Matanhy Saldanha's love for Goa was too insignificant and he could be dispensed with for a greater cause of the BJP in Goa. Floriano Lobo also said that Manohar Parrikar had the gall to tell the Legislative Assembly that Matanhy Saldanha had realised the importance of MOPA, before he died. "This is a blatant lie", he said, "as Matanhy was not foolish enough to be convinced that MOPA would be a good thing for Goa after having been against it since its inception". "Would Matanhy Saldanha risk the ire of Goans, especially the South Goans, being sweet on MOPA?" he asked. "Matanhy was a man of his word" he said, "not a man who would make U-TURNS at every opportunity" he said. "The body of Yesser Arafat of Palestine", Floriano said " was exhumed after eight years and tests done on the remains to inform the world that he was 'PLUTONIUM' poisoned". "Why was no post-mortem conducted on Matanhy Saldanha, especially when it is reported that he had soiled himself badly before he died?" he asked. " I have had two cardiac arrests, and if at all I am alive today, it is becuase my family members were around to revive me. There was no messing up of any kind" he said. When asked as to why he was bringing up this issue after two years of Matanhy's passing away, his answer was : " I have always maintained in my writings since Matanhy's mysterious death that there should have been a post-mortem. "As a matter of fact, I have spoken to the press on 21 March 2014 when GSRP released its Lok Sabha Election Manifesto at the Nossa Sra. de Piedade Hall, Panjim" he said. "It is still not too late for the post-mortem to be conducted", he said. "GSRP will want to see the test report on the remains of Matanhy Saldanha to believe that he died of cardiac arrest/stroke or a natural death and not from poisoning" he concluded. for Goa Su-Raj Party Sd/- Floriano Lobo General Secretary.
