When contacted on Monday, 7/4/2014, the CEO informs the Gen. Secretary of this Party that EC is seeking legal opinion on this petition and that it will respond shortly thereafter. Having gotten no response from the EC, and when confronted on 10/4/2014, the CEO Mr. Keshav Chandra blames the delay on the staff and promises to look into the matter. GSRP has received EC's response to the petition via post on 17/4/2014 (today) at 5.00 p.m. which reads as under:- Ref. No. 5-17-2014/ELEC/(Part-II) 327/3134 dated 10.4.2014 To: Petitioners (1) & (2) above Sub: Complaints regarding Violation of Code of Conduct. Ref:- your letter no Nil Dated 28.03.2014. Sir, With reference to your petition dated 5th. April 2014, against Shri. Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, I am directed to inform you that the powers to grant the prayers does not vest with this authority. You are requested kindly to approach competent forum. Why did it take upto 10.4.14 to respond to a disqualification petition when the Elections were scheduled for 12.4.2014. 2. Why send this response via the postal route when this petition was sent to the CEO on 5/4/2014 via email and hard copy inwarded on 6/4/2014. 3. If the EC has no powers vested with it to deal with fraudulent sworn affidavit filed by a candidate, then what is the raison d'etre of the Election Commission which drains the country's exchequer to the tune of thousands of crores of tax-payer's hard-earned money? 4. Which is the appropriate forum that must be approached to get the job done that is the duty of this elaborate money guzzling structure called Election Commission of India? 5. Is this Party wrong is calling this flamboyant white elephant which not only bends but crawls at the beck and call of the ruling party, an impotent Joker? 6. This Party never wrote to the EC on 28.3.2014.
