I second Stephen's concern about this proposed concrete road. Having lived in the West where concrete roads are common, I chuckled aloud when I saw the statement that the road will last 50 years ! Granted, that weather conditions and extremes of heat and cold in Westen countries take a heavy toll on roads. Even newly laid concrete roads have to be cut up and patched after 3 or 4 years. Unless the road is engineered with local conditions and weather in mind, this new road will be a white elephant. Taking cognizance of sub-soil strata, and using dequate steel reinforcement, and special cement to be used in the concrete surface to endure the heavy traffic are essential. I hope that our Engineer chief minister takes a keen interest in this mammoth project.
