At a time when the country awaits with abated breadth the results of the Lok
Sabha polls; in the South Goa District an event which may be the precusor of
things to follow in the days to come griped the Salcete taluka today.

At around 1600 hrs (IST) today 8th May, 2014 Mrs Elsa Fernandes a housewife (of
H No 154 Camar bhatt St Jose de Areal of Velim Assembly Constituency   just a
few meters away from the local MLA's office and the VP Office before the
Industrial Estate road )  who was allegedly sweeping outside her modest house
noticed  her latest less than a month old tenant one Pappu enter his tenement
opp her house after alighting from a white color van (number witheld)  and a
deafening explosion which left her shell shocked .

This was followed by another  Pappu who claimed  to be  working in the mining
area with his  two children a boy and a girl Sahid  and spouse Noor Jehan and
Shamin lay dead at the entrance apparently by  the impact.  It is learnt that
another girl who was watching the TV got her eye damaged.  She alongwith spouse
and son were rushed to the Hospicio at Margao.

Ms Fernandes bereaved following the death of her husband just a month ago 4th
April 2014 who spoke to this writer late evening at around 2140 hrs during the
visit at the site of the accident claimed that this latest tenant was just one
of the four others who occupy the outhouse in front of theirs located just
adjacent to the road.

Being new she had no clue whatsoever of his daily chores but did see some
friends call at his place. Considering that he was young around 30 years and
married she had no reason to suspect any ulterior motive.

Though it is not clear whether it was a crude bomb or explosive used for
fishing the battery of top police officer alongwith SDM were at site .  The
local MLA Mr Benjamin Silva was present at the house when this writer was
consoling the family two daughters married  over the unfortunate incidents.
The son works abroad.  A woman activist was also present.

Meanwhile the bomb disposal squad is expected apparently for fear of further
explosions . Some persons were taken for question.  Ironically the State
witnessed squally weather with thunder and lightening and this threw the entire
area in pitch darkness hampering sensitive investigations.
