One of the parameters in judging a government on good governance is the maximum utilization of all available resources including its manpower. It is very appalling that several government officers in Goa are without posting and are drawing their salaries without working.
One of them is Sunil Masurkar. A very reputed officer with an impeccable and unblemished record. Earlier this year he was transferred and posted as Secretary of the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) but he was very high-handedly not allowed to join duties by the Chairman of GPSC KurapatiDwarakanath Row. The government has till date has not taken any action against Mr. Row as he is a relative of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. It is learnt that Mr. Row did not want Mr. Masurkar, a known no-nonsense officer fearing that he may crack the whip on the ongoing glaring irregularities at the GPSC. So for the last few months Sunil Masurkar is sitting at home and drawing his salary due to the sheer apathy of the government to act. Will the Honourable Chief Minister intervene and stop this sheer wastage of public funds? It is pertinent to note that the same coterie of officers who were around then Chief Minister Digambar Kamat are now also Manohar Parrikar’s key advisers. While in the Opposition Manohar Parrikar had accused these very officers of rampant corruption and maladministration. So what has changed, Mr. Chief Minister?
