Speed breakers or bone breakers There is a set procedure for erecting spread breakers through the office of the Collector. These innumerable speed breakers dot on internal roads as well as National and state high ways, and there is a clamour for more such speed breakers. As a matter of rule and convention National Highways are avoided, but it is not so in Goa. The accident prone spots are identified, but once erected no one takes the responsibility to regularly paint and maintain them The sign boards are not very effective, covered with shrubs or corroded, and disfigured at times. The safety aspect leads to accidents resulting in serious injuries specially to the unwary two wheeler riders. Fortunately the Govt. can be hauled up through litigation for negligence and held accountable. The justice system as it stands is cumbersome, not people friendly or swift. It should be the responsibility of those who sanction and erect them to paint them regularly so that accidents at the site are prevented .It is humorously said that Goa can be a venue for world obstacle race
