The Session is scheduled on 21st June 2014 (Saturday) at 1700-1900 Hrs, Great Hall, Hotel Fidalgo, Panaji, Goa. The objective of the session is to help those diagnosed with diabetes to equip with the necessary skills to manage and live a healthy balanced life. Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as 'diabetes mellitus', describes a group of metabolic diseases in which a person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body's cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. It is a lifestyle and a serious health disease. Whether you are at risk, have just been diagnosed or have had diabetes for many years, the program will help you in understanding all about the disease. The session will leave you feeling more confident about your health. Profile of Speaker: Dr. Unnikrishnan A G is a MBBS from Calicut Medical College, A postgraduate (MD) in Internal Medicine from Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore. His Theses at MD was to explore the possibility of intermittent insulin therapy in type 2 diabetes (using the glucotoxicity hypothesis). He completed my 3-years training in internal medicine.
