I wonder if the position expressed by the CITU leadership in West Bengal would also be applicable in Goa?

The general secretary of the party's trade union wing, CITU's M K Pandhe, has come out in support of West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on his industrialisation policy and slammed allies who have been critical of the Chief Minister.

"We are not building socialism," Pandhe told The Financial Express here today in an echo of what the Chief Minister himself has said on several occasions. "We are working within the policy of capitalism. And within this framework, the West Bengal government is compensating the working class. At this juncture, West Bengal cannot ignore Tata or any other industry."

"Whatever policy Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is pursuing, is approved by us," said Pandhe. "We can oppose any deviation that will go against the working class."

Pandhe's support comes at a crucial time when the CM has faced opposition from the CPI, RSP and Forward Bloc, apart from rivals Congress and Trinamool.

Pandhe even criticised the allies: "The decision to bring investment in Singur was taken before the Assembly polls. And all these Left parties, who are now opposing it, were party to that decision." "We are not against industrialisation. We are against exploitation," he said.
