RefL: HERALD CM ACROPOLISES FOR USING THE WORD " NEGRO"
 Hon Sir,
I do not think that you made a mistake by using the word "NEGRO" because we
used to say in Portuguese time this word often for Africans  staying in Goa.,
and that these Africans were never got offended. In Portuguese the meaning of
NEGRO is BLACK. And it is true that they are black and not WHITE. Now what will
happen if you call the Europeans as WHITE. Will they get offended? No.
Therefore the Chief Minister should not have apologized for it.
This is for the public to know that the word NEGRO is not an offense.

Stephen Dias,
The easiest way to understand the offensive word is that there are people in
Africa who have a skin colour that is lighter than mine. Or yours. How can you
justify calling someone who is not black, black - in any language.

Secondly, Europeans are not white. Snow is white in colour. Why would you call
Europeans white when they are not?
