Invasions have always been in vogue. Under the ruse of democracy or modernisation, they seem to be happening everywhere. Immigrants in America, Americans in Iraq and Café Coffee Days in Goa. So much of its exquisite rustic charm is now pockmarked with concrete and neon, that Goa, I'm sure, must be weeping. Certainly, there are parts of Goa that exude the energy of a once-proud cowboy now trundling about in a fluorescent mini skirt and Perspex stilettos—embarrassed and confused, but grappling all the same.
