*Perryson nets shock winner for Sesa*
Perryson Rebello netted with a beautiful strike as Sesa Football Academy scraped past Sporting Clube de Goa by a solitary goal in Gfa’s Goa Pro League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Wednesday. The score was goalless at the interval. Sesa had to play the last two minutes with only ten men after substitute Melvin Fernandes was shown his second yellow card and was sent off for bringing down Victorino Fernandes on route to goal. The Flaming Oranje thought they had a won a clear penalty, but the referee gave a free kick on the edge of the box instead, which brought loud jeers from the crowd. Sporting Goa had Sesa on the back foot for most part of the game, with balls being played behind the wing backs. Sesa read the script perfectly and committed many men behind the ball to neutralize the attack, with five Sesa players being booked compared to Sporting Goa’s one. The game got off to a slow start with both teams not taking much risk. A ten minute spell of rain before half time seemed to wake the players up from their slumber and the game improved dramatically in the second half. The all important goal from Perryson came in the 78th minute, when his acute shot from a zero angle stunned everyone as it flew into the back of the net. Sporting Goa’s front line was guilty of missing a hatful of chances inside the danger zone, with Sesa living to tell the tale. Sporting Goa’s best chance came in the closing stages when Beevan sent the ball in from the right side which just needed the slightest of touches, but Victorino Fernandes and Mauvin Borges arrived half a second to late, which summed up Sporting Goa’s afternoon.
