The Joseph Naik Vaz Institute (Berkeley, California) was informed by the Postulator for the Cause of Bl. Joseph Vaz that the Consistory (committee of Cardinals) voted today to confirm the Pope's decision to canonize Joseph Vaz who is now officially a saint. We cordially invite all San Francisco Bay Area Goan, Mangalorean and Sri Lankan communities to our next monthly Mass on Sunday, October 26th to give thanks for the canonization of Goa and Sri Lanka's first Saint.
Here are the details: Date and time: October 26, 12:30p.m. Mass with Multicultural Choir. Place: St John the Baptist Church, 11150 San Pablo Avenue, El Cerrito (cross st. Potrero Avenue). Within walking distance of Del Norte Bart Station, El Cerrito/ The Mass will be followed by a no-host lunch (Dutch treat) and discussion at China Village at 1335 Solano Avenue, Albany CA 94706 (b/t Ramona Ave & Pomona Ave). We would like to discuss how we can collaborate to celebrate the canonization at an event to be determined in early 2015. We welcome your ideas and suggestions and any practical help you can give to make this celebration of Goa and Sri Lanka’s first canonized Saint a great success.
