The revised Constitution Amendment Bill to roll out GST would be introduced in the forthcoming Winter Session of Parliament. GST will alter the tax regime by replacing a string of central and state levies such as excise, VAT and octroi with a single unified tax. Industry associations have been lobbying for the quick GST rollout as it will reduce taxes and spur GDP (gross domestic product) growth by 1-1.5 per cent annually.
