*Pune FC move into Durand finals*
Pune FC scraped past Sporting Clube de Goa 2-1 in the Semi-finals of the 127 th edition of the Durand Cup at Raia Panchayat ground, on Thursday. The match was tied 1-1 at the interval. Pune FC took a shock lead in the 20th minute when the ball was crossed from the right flank to Bineesh Balan who took one of his trade mark strikes to silence the large home crowd. It did not take long for Sporting Goa to find a way back into the game when Captain Boima Karpeh timed his run to perfection to beat the Pune offside trap and equalize for the Flaming Oranje. The second session was equally as exciting and there were fantastic chances at both ends. Pune took their opportunity when they won a free kick on the edge of the box and Ryuji Sueoka curled the ball into the back of the net to regain the lead for his side. In the closing stages, Sporting Goa had a wonderful moment to level when substitute Victorino Fernandes was sent sprawling to the ground in the box. Anthony Wolfe stepped up for the Flaming Oranje but his spot kick was heroically saved by the Pune custodian. PHOTO: Sporting Clube de Goa’s Roystan D’souza looks to bring the ball under control.
