Joegoauk, I am certainly shocked at the money being stupidly thrown away by either fearful or stupid people! Your recommendation of how the Catholic Church in Goa should act is full of common sense, but I have noticed this august institution is not too well known for this particular art. As they say common sense is a most uncommon commodity.
I have respect for the abilities of Fr. Loiola from what I hear about him, but as the diocese's communications director, he is unseemingly quiet about major issues on this forum. For example he has ignored Cornel's request to present the Church's side on apparent complicity over the ages in perpetuating the caste system. Perhaps the Church thinks that by ignoring everyday issues that affect their membership, they will not arouse the anger of this or that section of Goan Catholics. However the exact opposite will occur. The Church in Goa is very much in danger of becoming irrelevant because either they do not seem to have the courage to take principled stands on controversial matters or they are remiss in communicating those stands. Same result either route. Roland. And only this will stop the 'nonsense' thus saving poor man's money.
