In my opinion, Ben Antao's statement included in your note as shown below, comes from a position of total ignorance. Quote: Sure they remember the 'good old days' when they were coddled and trusted by the English and had the African servants to cook, wash and care for their children, while they played cards and drank in the Goan clubs. Unquote Take just a simple case of my own mother. Right through her childhood in Goa, she had servant attending to all the family needs. When she married my father and came to Kenya she had a servant there too. And now in the UK she has a domestic here who does all her cleaning and other chores for her leaving her free time to enjoy playing cards and drinking chai in her local club. She is not an isolated case, I know of many Goan families in the UK today who employ domestic staff. Likewise, I am sure many families in Goa that employ domestic staff.
