CHANGING INDIA- A HEALTHY DEMOCRACY
Rajmohan Gandhi discussing with Sagarika Ghose focused on the need for a
pluralistic society; expressed concerns about money spent and media campaigns
on a leader or a party during Lok Sabha elections 2014 drowning democracy! He
emphasized that "danda" politics is counter productive in a democracy.
Although Sadhvi Jyoti's expressed regret in Parliament and the PM strongly
disapproved of her controversial remarks, the Opposition still kept disrupting
both houses. The BJP had not allowed Parliament to function when they were in
the Opposition. The hardliners in the BJP who want a non secular and polarized
society are being encouraged by the BJP soft pedaling due to its RSS culture,
unable to unequivocally condemn and put a stop to such communal activity and
thinking. There is no fear of the law. Rampant rapes and crimes, ungodly
Godmen, cults, violent anti minority actions, caste politics, coloring history,
education etc are insults to mankind and our Constitution. Administrative and
police reforms need a "fast forward"and arresting of "fast backward" thinking
in today's world must be firmly curbed! If we have pretensions of being a world
power, this tit for tat behavior in Parliament and with the PM who has given
the impression of change from an ideologue into a statesman, not walking that
extra mile to reign in communal behavior, we cannot change India to a vibrant
democratic nation with healthy and progressive outlook with deep meaning in his
"Sab Ke Sath,Sub Ka Vikas" slogan.
