OPEN LETTER TO MANOHAR PARRIKAR EX-CHIEF MINISTER OF GOA
Ref: Published in Navhind Times on. 16th July, 2013 title: Parrikar assures 24-hr water supply in Salcete by Dec. 2014. Parrikar promised 20 MLD sewage water treatment plant would be constructed in Navelim to treat the River Sal water; which is polluted with the direct release of sewage into it, in the absence of the sewerage pipeline connectivity in some areas of Navelim. Parrikar announced this on 16th July 2013 that by December 2014 after laying the foundation stone for the construction of sewerage facilities in Margao, under the JICA aided Goa water supply and sewerage project in presence of PWD Minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar, Alina Saldanha, Digamber Kamat and Vijai Sardesai and others. We are now already in December 2014, but no solution, Sir. He also said that the state Govt has made a provision for 30 MLD of raw water, which is estimated to cost Rs. 56 crores. The work of laying underground pipeline from Davorlim to Verna IDC has been almost completed and Vasco would also get benefit of the supply of raw water. Where are the assurances given by Parrikar? Whether barring difficult terrain if the water woes of Salcete and Marmagoa have been achieved on time or this is yet another empty promise. Let us hope at least our present Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar does some miracles by achieving its goal by providing 24 x 7 round the clock drinking water supply not only for Salcete people but for the whole of Goa.
