The Union Home Minister has issued directions to the police to shun obsequious practices like the fashion of junior staff escorting their bosses for official functions or Meetings!This was needed by the British, the Home Ministry says, to show superiority, but now they are our own brethren. Very good! Now if only this could be extended to the politicians to shun the VIP syndrome and other consequent privileges as vestiges of the Raj, and recognize them as practices that demean the citizens,I would salute our politicians.
