Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar who is already diagnosed as infected with that Manohar Parrikar infamous U turn virus, last week rode to a public function on a Bullock cart. What message was Laxmikant Parsekar seeking to convey or was it just a cheap publicity stunt. Are we moving in the reverse direction?
At that function Laxmikant Parsekar claimed that he was always fascinated since his childhood to sit on a bullock cart and that after all these years he finally got the opportunity to sit and ride one. Infact with most of the roads in a very pathetic state besides the traffic scenario being one of heavy congestion with vehicles just crawling we seem to be back to the bullock cart age. Laxmikant Parsekar might have hit the jackpot by becoming the Chief Minister without playing the lottery but he should realize that the people of Goa are hoping that he takes the State ahead. He cannot just procrastinate and drag his feet on the mountain of issues Manohar Parrikar has left behind unresolved. Incidentally along with Laxmikant Parsekar riding on that bullock cart was also Dr Pramod Sawant the Chairman of Goa State Infrastructure Corporation who despite the State coffers being empty is on a frenzy making hay in issuing multi-crore tenders. On that present Miramar – Dona Paula Road riding on a bullock cart may be the way to go. By the way we may see the ever innovative MLA Vishnu Surya Wagh arriving for the next session of the Goa Legislative Assembly this time on a bullock cart!
