South Goa Member of Parliament Narendra Sawaikar who was blatantly violating the law has now finally stopped using the red beacon on his official vehicle.
In a complaint to the Director of Transport and the SP Traffic last week it was pointed out that Narendra Sawaikar was illegally flashing the red beacon on his official vehicle GA-03-G-1569 in clear defiance of law and amounting to a gross contempt of the Supreme Court’s order. Narendra Sawaikar after being appointed as Chairman of the Goa Law Commission in March 2012 had been illegally used he red beacon till the Lok Sabha elections last year. Narendra Sawaikar was high-handedly using a perk and privilege he was not entitled to. In accordance with the Supreme Court order the Goa Government by a notification issued on 3rd July last year notified the list of persons entitled to display the red beacon on their official vehicle which included only the Governor, Chief Minister and Ministers, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Chief Justice and Judges of the High Court, Leader of Opposition, Advocate General and the Chief Secretary.
