*Damodar Mauzo's "Mirage and Other Stories" launched in Margao*

An engaging discussion on various approaches one may take to translations
of their works to English and other languages, and vice versa, was held at
the Dr. Francisco Luis Gomes District Library, Navelim, on the 17th of
January.

The deliberations were held as part of the the launch of Damodar Mauzo's
"Mirage and other stories", translated from the original Konkani version by
Vidya Pai, and published by Margao-based Under the Peepal Tree, a
sister-concern of CinnamonTeal Publishing.

Those on the panel included noted translators Xavier Cota and Augusto
Pinto, editor and author Jose Lourenco, Damodar Mauzo and Leonard
Fernandes, co-founder of Under the Peepal Tree. Various aspects such as the
author's and translator's approach to translation, the use of English as a
bridge language, translation contracts and terms, and the need to develop
good translators were discussed. The audience was very interested in the
topics being discussed and sought to seek more details about them.
