*“SWADESHI SCIENCE” – BHARATIYA VIGYAN SAMMELAN 2015*

*Panaji, 6th February 2015:  the Sammelan* was inaugurated on a musical
note by students from various schools, which was followed by the lamp
lighting ceremony at the hands of eminent Nuclear technologist Padma
Vibhushan Dr. Anil Kakodkar along with Padma Bhushan Dr. Vijay Bhatkar,
architect of India’s 1st supercomputer ‘PARAM’, Shri Kewal K. Sharma, Chief
Secretary, Government of Goa. Shri. Satish Shetye, Vice Chancellor –Goa
University, Shri Jayakumar A

*Dr. Satish Shetye,* welcoming the students informed that; Science begins
when someone asks a question, the pursuance of the answer unfolds the
answer or a new question or a new concept. These questions should be
encouraged,
discussion on good practices communication technology and of new materials. The
BVS provides a platform to discover the science behind traditional
activities, as there is no journal or documents available that stipulate
the use of traditional methods for scientific evaluation.

, spoke about the Principles of “Vijnana Bharati”, people with a zeal for
developing or innovating in their respective fields can be a part of this
organization, from a farmer to a scientist, one has the freedom to present
papers in any language.

Scientists came together to form a Swadeshi movement in science, “Ayurveda”
is a Swadeshi science so is yoga, these concepts developed indigenously are
recognized internationally.  A thorough study of the traditional
occupations is being conducted, occupational knowledge followed by the
farmers; fishermen etc are being documented and evaluated.



Concept of the Bharatiya Vigyan Sammelan was explained by Padma Bhushan *Dr.
Vijay Bhatkar*, is to create a vibrant movement for the development of
Swadeshi Sciences, with a Swadeshi Spirit, interlinking traditional and
modern sciences on the one hand, and natural and spiritual sciences with
modern sciences adapted to national needs.



*Shri Kewal K. Sharma*, in his address, informed the need of organizing
this event in Goa, young minds should be enthused to pursue careers in the
field of science. India has survived for more than thousands of years,
facing adverse conditions; climatic as well as war influenced, yet these
survival tactics have never been evaluated. The “Vijnana Bharati” is
collectively working towards understanding this and which will help in the
integration of science with traditional strengths.

Young minds of the state will benefit from this mega event “Bharatiya
Vigyan Sammelan & Expo”.

*Padma Vibhushan Dr. Anil Kakodkar* stressed that pursuing science is
important and we should employ this knowledge for the betterment of
society.

*Plenary session II* on the topic “Polar research, climate and well beings
of the society” under Swachha Bharat theme addressed by Dr. Rajan,
Director, NCAOR, Goa and will be held at 9:30am on 7th Feb 2015.

*Plenary session III* addressed by Shri.Ashwin Shroff, CMD, Excel
Industries Ltd and will be held at 10:15am on 7th Feb 2015. Topic is
Swachcha Bharat.

*Plenary Session IV* themed on “Science and technology for aerospace and
defence” under Make in India theme addressed by Padma Bhushan, Dr.
Saraswat, Former DG, DRDO and will be held at 11:15am on 7th Feb 2015.

*Scientific sessions *

*Oral presentation of scientific research papers has been arranged in these
parallel sessions as follows, *

*Scientific sessions *will be conducted at different halls in Kala Academy
named after great Indian scientists as Kanad, Aryabhatta, C.V.Raman,
Ramanujan hall, Bharadwaj Hall on 7th February 2015 at 2:15pm.

*Special sessions* have been organized on the topics of public interest and
are open to general public. These post lunch sessions will be held on 7th
Feb. at the Kanad Hall (DM hall, Kala Academy).



*Special Sessions *will be on “Indian Space Research Organization” and
Dr.Y.V.N. Krishnamurthy, scientific advisor to ISRO chairman will deliver
the speech on the topic “India’s Space programme” under the theme “Foot
prints of Indian science in the global scientific development” at 2:15pm.

*Special Session *on the topic “Earth Ocean and Atmosphere” will be chaired
by:- Dr. S.W.A. Naqvi, Director, NIO and speakers are Dr. A.K. Gupta,
Director, WIHG, Dehradun, Dr. Ramesh, Director, IIGM, Mumbai, Dr. Nigam,
Dy. Director, NIO at 4:00pm.



Platform of BVS is aimed at bridging traditional/ancient scientific wisdom
with modern scientific knowledge. Sessions based on this theme have been
organized and *will be held at the Parsara Hall on 7th February 2015.*

Sessions on *traditional know how/Ancient science II*, informing about
“India’s Contribution to science and technology” Chaired by Dr.Y.L. Nene
Speakers: Shri. M.Apte, Dr.P.P. Holay, Dr.Vidhyadar Vaidya, Shri. Mayuresh
Prabhune at 2:15pm.
