Goa which was once the paradise of the East is today in the news for all the wrong reasons. On the rampant corruption and nepotism less said the better. Alarming increase in crime with murders, dacoities and rapes being order of the day. With the Casino trade being wholeheartedly buttressed by the Government, Goa has now become a hub for gambling, prostitution and the narcotics trade. The heaps of garbage all over and the filth loaded beaches have been putting tourists away. Potholed roads coupled with erratic power and water supply is only adding to the misery.
The only saving grace is that the terrorists have not yet set their eyes on this otherwise vulnerable State. But with the fickle minded and loose-tongued Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar visiting Goa so frequently he is really putting Goa and lives of Goans in a very precarious jeopardy.
