PROTECTION OF TRANSFORMERS ON NH 17 Some years back a truck plunged into a electricity transformer at Dandeavado ,Chinchinim causing disruption and extensive damage without any human tragedy,. Rightly so the Department sought to recover the costs and damages from the owner. The owner retorted by stating that the said unit was not secured or protected. As a fall out of this incident the approach to the transfer was barricaded with short pillars. Now at Sirlim on the same stretch the proposed road extension is exposing the transformer much more directly. It is an accident waiting to happen, if past experience is not taken into consideration
