I too enjoyed FN's interview with Portuguese retired Supreme Court Justice Colaco of Ribandar.
A striking feature of learned and high-achieving Goans of his time was their unpretentious and utterly simple manner. These were men who could be equally at ease with the Gauddos in their fields as with the highest officials in the land. He must have had many tales to tell of Goa, Angola and Portugal and mores the pity that the interview did not carry on into the hour. I would have not missed for the world the opportunity to ask him about the social history of Goa of the times in which his father and grandfather lived and how his family's privileges were acquired viz his ancestral riches and education. I hope the gentle judge has gone to Goa for a sabbatical however long and not for good, merely so that no untoward incident of the kind that happens all the time, preys on his vulnerability or age. Thank you, FN. Roland. Sent from my iPhone
