Hello
A TV news anchor and senior functionary of a Goan cable news channel has been accused of sexual harassment by a non-editorial employee of the media group which also runs a popular English newspaper The news anchor has been accused of seeking sexual favours from the victim, who is an equivalent of Grade IV employee in government service. The anchor has rejected the charge for the record. Sources close to a group of management professionals working for the usually shrill media group claim that the victim has formally informed about the sexual harassment to the management. What remains to be seen is whether just action will be taken in this case especially in view of the fact that the matter appears to be adjudicated largely by male management officials and not by the Supreme Court mandated sexual harassment committee which is required to be headed by a woman. Both the accused as well as the management have had a brush with controversies if similar nature in the past. Hoping mediapersons and women's activists will sniff around more, intervene and take this incident to it logical conclusion.
